ChatGPT Memory Full? Here's What to Do
Your ChatGPT memory is at capacity. Here's how to manage it and keep your AI context safe.
🧠What is ChatGPT Memory?
ChatGPT's memory feature stores facts about you across conversations. When it's full, ChatGPT can't learn new information about you, and may start "forgetting" older memories.
How to Check Your Memory Usage
- Open ChatGPT
- Click your profile icon → Settings
- Go to Personalization → Memory
- View your saved memories
How to Free Up Memory Space
1. Delete Unnecessary Memories
Review your saved memories and delete ones that are no longer relevant. Click the X button next to any memory to remove it.
2. Export Before Deleting
Before deleting memories, export your ChatGPT data to preserve them. Use AI Memory to store and search your exported conversations.
3. Use Custom Instructions Instead
Move important context to Custom Instructions instead of relying on memory. Custom Instructions persist across all conversations.
Why AI Memory is Better Than ChatGPT Memory
| Feature | ChatGPT Memory | AI Memory |
